Giuliano Fujiwara Black Jumper

After my last purchase which was in preparation for the winter months I wanted to look for something slightly more formal than a hoodie. Not only that but at the same time finding it from a brand I’ve not bought from before, so I searched online for a designers that had an interesting knitwear range and came across a designer called Giuliano Fujiwara – for those that have not heard of them before the quote below is taken directly from their website:

In 1986, “giuliano Fujiwara” made the debut in Milan. The initiator of the brand, Yoshiaki
Fujiwara, made a large influence not only Italy but also the fashion industry in the world as for a new concept “Minimalism”. The concept of “Minimalism”, the tradition, the technology, and the spirits come down today and the successor.
The one that flows to the basis of “giuliano Fujiwara” that expresses the present age and the future while making goods with the tailored technology is the tradition aesthetics from Italy.

Looking through their AW 14 range it’s easy to see standout characteristics in the design and detail; usually black in colour, bold white stripes around collars, edges and sleeves with extra textures layered on top. It was the use of textures which got my attention for one particular jumper, specifically leather panels on each of the shoulders – this is a feature I’ve seen used on t-shirts but never on a jumper.

The material of the top is unusual, often associated with sportswear; a mixture of spandex, polyamide and viscose. It’s quite heavy to wear but keeps it’s shape well and the leather shoulder panels really give it a nice contrast to the sportswear feel. It’s well made, good quality stitching throughout and the details on the sleeves and collar really make it standout, it’s what you should expect for a mid ranged priced jumper (£260). It’s nice to discover brands such as Giuliano Fujiwara and I shall be checking back for their next seasons range.
