Happy New Year everyone! What a year 2014 was and here’s hoping that 2015 will be as just exciting and surprising.
So, on to the first review of the year; in December I bought a pair of Marc Jacobs Zip black and gold hi-tops, these were in the Farfetch sale and cost of £400 reduced from £500. Those that read my blog may have seen these shoes featured in my Pinterest wishlist board from November so I was very happy to see they had been reduced.
I’ve never bought from Marc Jacobs before but I ordered my standard EU size 43 (UK 9) and hoped for the best. They arrived nicely wrapped and presented in a hard white cardboard box, which looks great and protects the shoes against damage while in transit. The first detail you notice when you look at them is the massive gold zip (obviously), it looks great and feels sturdy, worth noting is that the zip works, it’s not just for show. There’s some lovely textures around the side and back of the shoe, in particular the suede around the ankles The sole is made from rubber and the core of the shoe is 100% genuine leather so you know it will wear for a good time.
The size is slightly too big for me, the UK 9 is more like a UK 10 so I bought an inner sole from a sports shop and that did the trick. I’ve worn them out once already and they felt comfortable the whole night, definitely turned a few heads..towards my feet. These are a great high quality shoe and I will almost definitely be looking at new season Marc Jacobs shoes in the future.
